If you are in the mood for some Medieval dinner theatre, then the Medieval Manor in Boston MA is the place for you!
The Medieval Manor is the best Medieval style dinner theatre we have found in Massachusetts. The Medieval Manor is tucked away in an industrial looking building in Boston. The outside isn't so pretty, but once you get in, you are transported to a different time period. This is the closes thing to Medieval Times we have in Boston...there is no jousting or fighting, but it is still a great time!
"For the time of your life, step backwards into an evening at the Medieval Manor. Awaiting you is a bawdy comedic experience often imitated but never equaled. In this recently updated rollicking romp through the Middle Ages, the minstrel, jester, oaf and wenches respond to the Lord of the Manor's every whim with song, story and slapstick, sweeping you up in the fun. As the spirits flow and Canterbury beckons, the laughter and camaraderie will soon reveal why so many return so often for such foolishness." - Medieval Manor

Once you arrive at the Manor you are seated at a large table (tables range in size from 6-26 people). The feast is excellent. All the food is eaten with your hands - you don't get any silverware. It may sound really messy, but the food choices they pick go well this way. If you like to drink this is a great place to go - they give out tokens which you can exchange for a whole pitcher of beer or wine.
"Your meal begins with loaves of bread, pepper cheese trenchers and bowls of dragon soup. Mixed shellfish, salad and beef ribs precede the final course, roasted herbed chicken served with steamed vegetables. While feasting, refill your souvenir flagon with your choice of beer (dark or light), wine or lemonade, and there are plenty of napkins to keep your fingers clean. " - Medieval Manor
The actors are very good. There is a whole storyline that is played out over the night. There is much singing and music, and a fair amount of picking on crowd members. There's a jester and Oaf that are quite comical. You even have to ask the King's permission to go to the bathroom - you can't beat that fun. Outside of the dinning room there is also a bar where you can get other drinks asides from wine and beer.
Next time you are in Boston make sure to check out the Medieval Manor. Let us know how it goes!

Comment by GUEST on 2009-08-04 11:23:05 I was skeptical, and then I was laughing out loud. It is so better than most e critics report. We will go back to visit the King and his court. | |
