If you are looking for a fun (and family friendly) activity to do during Christmas time the Chain of Lights in Historic Sutton Massachusetts is worth checking out!
Let's first take a peak at the info the Sutton Massachusetts Christmas Chain of Lights site gives us:
"Historic Sutton, founded in 1704, is the quintessential New England town. A 19th century church on the common, rolling fields, stone walls, and a working blacksmith, paint an accurate picture of Sutton in 2006.
Christmas in Historic Sutton means traditions and old fashioned Yankee values. The community joins together for a grand celebration each year, uniting its quaint business community, churches, artists, and historical society to show small-town New England at its best.
On December 2, many of Sutton's most interesting sites will be celebrating Christmas. Ten historic trolleys will transport you caroling through one of New England's most picturesque towns at the height of the Christmas season.
Santa making will be shown at Vaillancourt Folk Art, bark candy will be spread at Eaton Confectioners, gingerbread house displays, art shows and old house tours. Church fairs, historic apple samplings and eggnogs. Pictures with Santa, brass bands, tree lighting ceremonies and good cheer. It's all here- just as it has been for over 300 years.
Dress warmly. Enjoy a casual, low-key, slow afternoon. Take time to meet your neighbors while experiencing the full Spirit of Christmas! " -Sutton Chain of Lights
We went to the Sutton Chain of Lights last year and had a great time. You go to the town center and hop on a historic trolley. The trolley then takes you to all the stops. The stops are different stores, orchards, churches, creamery, malls, farms, etc...
Just seeing the views from the trolley was great, but we had a couple favorite stops. The West End Creamery was a great stop. They made a custom pepermint ice cream that was awesome. They also have a little store that is worth perusing. Our other favorite stop was at Eaton Farms which is a Confection shop. They had great candy and we even got to go in the back and watch the custom chocolate candy be made. Very hot!
This years Chain Of Lights is on Saturday, December 2, 2006. Go and support the town of Sutton. We think you will have a great time at this MassHotSpot! If you go make sure to post a comment on the site and tell us how it went.
